County Galway - Inverin

A small village 4km/6km west of Spiddal on the coast road, with a nice beach, which was the scene of a local tragedy in 1917, when a German mine washed up on the beach and killed nine local people who came to examine it. A monument commemorates this event.

Micheal Breathnach is also commemorated by a monument, as he was born in the locality in 1881.

The airport that services the Aran Islands- Connemara Regional Airport - is located at Inverin; flights take a mere 10 minutes !
