Peter White I am the G-Grandson of Denis Joseph Canny, of Ballycasey in Co Clare. Born in the mid-1800s, Denis was the son of Matthew Canny of Clonmoney and the grandson of Denis Canny, also of Clonmoney. Ballycasey House is now part of Shannon Airport and what's left of Clonmoney House is nearby, just on the outskirts of Hurler's Cross. I have quite a few details of the family (incl dates) and am happy to share what I have - I have some interesting pictures of the houses at Clonmoney and Ballycasey as they "stand" today. Also have some pictures of Deerpark, where I believe the Canny's lived for a while. Peter White Tura Beach New South Wales Australia

I am the G-G-Grandson of Anna Canny, who was married in Six Mile Bridge, County Clare on 13 Feb 1838 ( to John Patrick Molony). Presumably, she was born c1813. I know her father was Denis Canny and that she died in 1861 at Clonmony. So, it may well be that Matthew Canny was her brother.

Viele Gre an Euch entfernter Verwandten. Helmfried Kany

I am the grandaughter of Edward Canny who was born in County Cork. He died in October 1927 in Sheffield in England. He would be in his 40s then. He had 2 children by his first marriage, called Mary and Kenneth. After his wife died he later married my Grandmother, called Elsie Hurt, in Sheffield. Edward then had another son Joseph Denis Canny- my father. I believe Edward had a brother remaining in Ireland called Jack. I don't know when Edward, who was a brick layer, came to England. He did bring his 2 children with him. Again I don't know if he came before or after his 1st wife's death. I find it amazing that on this page there are Denis Joseph Canny and Denis Canny!

I am the great-granddaughter of Patrick Canny. He married Mary Hussey in 1875. They lived on a farm in County Clare. They had 14 children, one of whom was my grandfather Daniel Joseph Canny. Daniel emigrated to the U.S. in 1911. He married my grandmother, Helen Theresa Lynch, in 1919. They had five children, the first of whom was Margaret Canny, my mother, born in 1920. She married Edward Higgins in 1946.

This is a note for Frank V. O'Connor. We may be related. My maiden name was Canny (geraldine), daughter of Michael Canny and Annie MacNamara and we lived in Clonlara, Co. Clare. My father was born and raised in Liss, Caher, Feakle. The James Canny to whom you refer may be my first cousin. His father was Paddy Canny. My parents are now deceased, but I have an Uncle (John Canny, who lived in Oxford, England, for many years) who is still alive. My father had two other brothers who have also died.

I am related to the Cannys of Ballycasey and Clonmoney through the marriage of Matthew Canny to Margaret Scully of Silverfort in 1812. The Limerick Standard of 1838 carried the following notice : On 13 Feb. 1838 at Sixmilebridge Church by the Rev. Richard Brew and afterwards according to R.C. ritual at Clonmoney House, John P. Molony of Cregg Esq. to Anne, 3rd Daughter of Denis Canny of Clonmoney Esq. Anne's parents were Denis Canny and Ellen O'Brien of Cranagh who marred in 1802. Clive Dellora guesses correctly that the Matthew Canny mentioned by Peter White in his notice was a brother of Anne. I had the pleasure of meeting Peter when he came to Ireland some time ago.
